Rugby Town has enhanced its junior club community programme by providing 3 core programmes (1) Kick a bout a turn up and play programme for all abilities with no sign on fee or registration (2) Goalkeeping school to develop the much neglected but most often important player (3) Skills school to build and enhance technique and ball skills of our young players. This means that all players irrespective of ability (Kickabout to elite) will be catered for within the scheme. We are extremely proud to have found 2 exceptional sports partners in SFF and Sells GK to lead and provide the coach development at our Rugby facility.
Strachan Football Foundation have now been confirmed as Rugby Town Junior Football Club SFF Club Skills Coach Initiative. Gavin Strachan head of football development says ” To have an association with Rugby Town Juniors in such early stages of the Foundation demonstrates the opportunity we have to change young peoples lives through football. Rugby Town Juniors have been awarded many regional and national accolades and we look forward to working closely with the club to develop it’s coaches and players to the next steps in their football careers “
Strachan Football Foundation will provide apprentice coaches and minimum level 3 coach for the Skills School on Friday evenings and Saturday’s will be small sided Street Football games which will be held weekly giving the opportunity for players to pay and play without commitment, more information of the street football pay and play system will be released in the coming weeks.
Education and Marketing Director Dan Elliott highlights the benefits of the coaching placements within the football club. ” The hours coached within the program will give our apprentices valuable work experience which will provide evidence for a number of sports coaching qualifications including FA “leadership through football” Level 2. The SFF will be working closely with the coaches of Rugby Town Juniors, SFF staff will conduct a number of coaches clinics to share ideas and good practice shaping the ethos of their coaching, The introduction of Strachan Football Foundation to Rugby Town FC also brings the expertise of Sells Goalkeeper Academy led by Aston Villa and former Coventry shot stopper Andy Marshall, SFF and SGA have joined in partnership to help give the clubs we work with giving the best possible service we can for all their players.
The SFF Club Skills Coach Initiative provides many benefits to the clubs we work with coach education, discounted kit and affordable coaching being just a few benefits. We will also allow access the SFF coaches corner online coaching library which will include video sessions, coaching software and resources. SFF staff and special guest coaches will have their sessions recorded and available to download to members of the club skills coach initiative.
